Is the Beach Body attainable? How do you get a beach body?
A beach body, bikini body, or summer body – they’re just different ways of describing the same seasonal objective: looking good in your swimsuit for the summer. In other words: a lean, taut, toned body… In short, a body we might describe as athletic.
We’re all more or less drawn to the Beach Body Quest. Whether you lead an active lifestyle or not.
Getting a bikini body isn’t easy
As summer approaches, the quest for the perfect summer body is amplified by social networks, the media, and the web. First of all, don’t be bamboozled: it’s not possible to get a beach body in a month or two – or even three or four.
A beach body is a body with an athletic look – it takes some time to get there. It is a long road, and can take years.
Getting a beach body isn’t *just* about losing weight. If you want firmness and a taut shape, it’s muscle you’ll need to build. And muscles don’t form in just a few weeks!
The right and the wrong reasons to strive for a beach body
Obviously, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to feel good about your body, and be proud of it when you have to wear your swimsuit. On the other hand, when you’re doing it to succumb to the pressure of obtaining the “perfect” physique, it becomes problematic.
Excessive dieting to lose weight very quickly, dangerous dietary supplements, or excessive exercise are not healthy behaviors.
Physical and mental health should be your primary goal. Weight loss and an athletic physique are the result of a healthy lifestyle, not a race to lose pounds before summer.
Be kind to yourself. Take care of your body so that it can take care of you for the rest of your life, and not for the eyes of other people on the beach this summer.
Don’t forget that you have a harsher view of your own body than anyone you meet on the beach will. Most of the time, people don’t even pay much attention to other people’s looks, since they are so focused on their own appearance.
Ease up on the pressure, and forget all the judgements of society!
How do you maintain a healthy lifestyle and feel better about your body?
There is no miracle cure: exercise has long proven its benefits for the human body. Muscle strengthening allows you to sculpt your body, to obtain a toned look. Even cosmetic surgery doesn’t offer as good results as exercise in the long term.
The most important thing is to be consistent – so choose an activity that you thoroughly enjoy.
If you want a personalized muscle-toning program, I recommend the Fitness Coach app. The training sessions are the perfect way to have fun while working the whole body.
Then you have to help your body, too, through other behaviors – otherwise you can do all the exercise in the world, but you’ll never achieve your body’s full potential. See my article “How to improve your lifestyle” for more information!
