How do you ensure you really lose weight for 2023?
Happy New Year! Best wishes! Speaking of wishes, what are you dreaming about? How are you going to do that? Many of you have already listed your resolutions for 2023. And guess what though? Losing weight is one of the most coveted resolutions, such as quitting smoking or getting involved in sports. It is also one of the most unsuccessful ones. How can we make this work?
Beginning the new year on the right foot with resolutions

January is a month of resolution(s). Disclaimer: No one says that resolutions are mandatory.
Why do we make resolutions in January?
Certain stages of the year make it possible for you to find yourself in time. It can be the seasonal changes, birthdays, parties or the transition to the new year as in here. The latter is the most conducive to wanting change.
We close the year as a chapter, and all that remains to do now is turn the page and write the next one, still blank. This makes you want to wipe the slate clean, start afresh and/or launch new projects. This new desire implies a sense of change, so resolutions are born.
It is symbolic. The new year begins, so we might as well start off on the right foot.
Actually, you can implement change at any time, but psychologically, starting this change is easier in January.
How can we keep our resolutions and achieve our goals?
Resolutions work as long as they stem from a desire to change, are reasonable and, above all, desired by someone willing to act differently.
Changing some of our behaviors is sometimes very difficult, especially in the long term. It is for this reason that it would be necessary to remain reasonable, compassionate, and also to stop putting pressure on yourself.

Here’s what you can do to increase your chances of success:
- Write your (reasonable) resolution on a medium you like (paper, tablet, phone, etc.)
- List below the actions you need to take to achieve your goal. This may look like a checklist on which you can cross out the steps as you complete them.
- Use sticky notes (in the diary, on the bathroom mirror, on the desk, on the wallpaper, on the walls, etc.). In fact, you will regularly think about your resolution, and it will really get into your mind. Thus, you will be directed more spontaneously and easily towards the actions that you must take to achieve it.
Weight loss resolution
1. Be reasonable (really, it’s important; read this paragraph at the risk of failure)

Don’t aim for significant and rapid weight loss! It’s the best way to avoid it. If you have gained weight, please answer the following question: How long has your weight accumulated? Depending on what comes out of it, think you’ll need at least that (or more) to lose it all. Even though the goal may not be to lose it all, you need to realize how long it takes for your body to keep up with the change. Your body has been used to living in a certain way, sometimes even for years, so if you hardly see any progress in February despite everything you have done, don’t panic!
2. Improve your diet every day
Food is one of the starting points for a healthy human being. Here, I’m not going to tell you that being healthy is all about losing weight because that’s not true and there are a lot of factors that can make you unhealthy, whether you’re overweight or not. That said, a good diet gives your body the opportunity to get better and lose weight. If you don’t know how to manage your diet, you’ll find plenty of tips on the blog or on the Nutri Coach app (personalized tips), but please don’t start a nasty diet!

3. Avoid a sedentary life, add physical activity to your schedule

Sedentary life is man’s ultimate enemy. Psychologically and physically, we need to move. Although diet can already have a lot of impact, sports will quickly become essential when you want to lose weight. If you hate sports, maybe you haven’t found the perfect activity for yourself yet. Often people think you have to run or go to the gym to get into sports, but there are hundreds of physical activities out there. I’m convinced that we all have one or more preferred activities. Don’t hesitate to consult the list of all possible activities in your city. All you have to do is ask for a trial session (it’s usually free) to make up your mind.

On average, doing two to three sessions per week is recommended to obtain results.
